Everything about this 9 win-line online slot game from Amaya is fast. Few slots can match the speed at which the reels spin, or the motor racing sound effects. There are Formula 1 cars and racing motorbikes on the reels. Along with a lot of checkered flags which back the playing card symbols. While this is by no means a recent slot, it is solid and engaging.
Highlights include a picks game where you choose from 12 different motor racing circuits. The multipliers from these picks can add up to some big wins. There are also mystery scatter prizes, which can be up to 2700 coins.
One advantage of only having 9 win-lines is that your coin sizes are larger than on the more up to date 30+ win-line games. This results in bigger pay outs when you do hit the highest wins. This slot has 5 reels, each with 3 rows. You can spin from just 1c per line, then 5c (45c per spin) and up from there. You will see a ‘Bet Max’ button next to the ‘Same Spin’ which defaults to 5 coins per line.
There are only 3 higher paying symbols. One is a blue car with headlamps on, which is a wild symbol as well as having the single biggest prize. This wild only substitutes for the other vehicles. And not the playing card ‘filler’ symbols. As usual it does not substitute for the bonus or scatter symbols.
5 of the blue cards will get you 2500 coins. You’ll get 500 coins for 4, 125 for 3, 15 for 2 and 2 coins for just a single blue car in the left-hand reel. The red F1 car comes next, at 1000 coins for 5 – with the yellow bike at 750. Both pay all the way down to 1 of a kind.
Playing card filler symbols make up the smaller pays. Aces and kings are worth hitting, having 500 and 250 coins for 5 of a kind. You will need to hit at least 3 playing card symbols from the left to trigger a win.
There are two types of scatter, both of which will pay mystery prizes. These are the blue ‘Speed Scatter’ and the orange ‘Mystery Scatter’. This is not quite as simple as hitting 3+ anywhere in view. In this game, they will need to be consecutive and on a win line – though not necessarily from the left.
Scatter prizes are random, with up to 2700 coins possible.
Like the scatters, you need to hit the yellow bonus symbols on adjacent reels to trigger wins. This bonus is a second-screen picks game. You will see a grid of 12 tiles, each showing the outline of a race track from around the world. These include famous tracks like Silverstone, Monte-Carlo and Indianapolis.
Each time you click on a tile it will show 1st, 2nd or 3rd. This is 5x, 2x or 1x your total spin amount as a prize. You keep picking until you hit one which says ‘collect’. At this point your bonus game is over, and your multipliers are added together. If you trigger this bonus with 4 or 5 bonus symbols (rather than the minimum 3), you get a 2x or 3x multiplier of your total score at the end.
The logo above the reels shows a speedometer, flames and chrome exhaust pipes covering the top of the reels. There is a flashing effect between your spins. Otherwise the design is dominated by the playing card symbols. These have the checkered flag behind them and are bright, plain colors. With only 3 higher paying symbols, the playing cards do dominate things a little too much at times.
Those unique symbols are nicely produced, though this is not a new slot and in general the graphics look older. There are no animated symbols, your wins are shown via boxes and lines.
For me this slot does better with the audio than it does visually. You’ll hear different engine noises when you win. These are combined with the regular electronic slot noises. This is a fast playing slot, which is a big plus and does fit well with the racing theme.
You’ll need to enjoy retro slots for this to be on your hit-list. The production is good, and the game is fast. It does not have too much depth, with only a random scatter prize and simple picks game to keep you entertained.
