Fumi’s Fortune is a slot based around an imaginary game show of the same name. On the reels, you have a pair of presenters – one male with dark hair wearing glasses, while the other is a female character with red hair and a big beaming smile.
This very colorful slot has a single bonus round based around free spins, although it is activated in a slightly unusual way. Can you make it big at this game show based slot? Read more to find out!
The base game is something of a standard five-reel slot with a total of 25 win lines which pay from left to right. Wins come your way when hitting three or more in a row of any symbol. The top paying standard symbol in the game is the male presenter (this is Fumi) and is worth 1,000 coins for hitting five in a row. Next on the pay table is the female presenter (this is Aki) which is worth 750 coins, while a symbol showing two bubbles with an image of each presenter within also pays 750 coins. A clever image showing two intertwining F’s is worth 500 coins, while the playing cards 9, 10, J, Q, K and A complete the standard symbols.
Below the reels is the control panel and to the right you have the spin and bet max buttons – the spin button setting the reels in motion at the current number of lines, while the bet max immediately sets this to 25. The auto-play option to the left allows you to set the number of spins manually while an advanced section allows you to stop after a cumulative win or loss amount.
The wild symbol in the game shows the word ‘wild’ in four psychedelically designed letters and this will substitute for any other symbol in the game apart from the scatter. If you manage to land five wilds in a row on a win line, you’ll win 1,000 coins, matching the pay-out for the male presenter. Hit 4, 3 or 2 in a row and you’ll pocket 750, 100 and 2 coins respectively.
Unusually, this game has a scatter symbol which simply pays a credit amount, as opposed to scatters which normally activate a bonus feature. The scatter symbol in this game shows the title of the slot and you’ll need to land two or more across any of the reels to win a prize. The pay outs are based upon the total stake for each spin and the top prize when landing five scatters is 50x the total stake. Four, three or two scatters will pay you 10x, 5x or 2x your stake.
‘Fumi’s Famous Free Games’ is the other bonus feature. On most other slots, you’ll need to hit a set amount of scatters to enter a free spins bonus round, but entry here is a bit more random. You’ll enter the feature when you have any spin where both Fumi and Aki and / or the bubbles symbols appear.
During the spins one or more of the Fumi, Aki or Bubbles symbols will become wild for the duration of the spins, doubling the number of wild symbols – making for some potentially big wins. During the feature, the right combination of Fumi, Aki or the bubble symbols can retrigger the feature, adding 8 spins onto the existing total.
This Amaya designed slot has a purple color scheme with strobe vertical lighting either side of the reels. The two standout symbols are the two presenters, but it’s immediately clear that there aren’t enough themed symbols on the reels. After every spin, the majority of the symbols are those playing cards, which doesn’t make for a good look, even though they have a colorful design. The soundtrack is exactly what you might expect from an Asian style gameshow, although this soundtrack is one that you would have heard in the 1980’s or 1990’s after watching a show such as ‘Come on Down’.
Basing a slot on an imaginary game show is a somewhat original idea, but unfortunately, this game show doesn’t quite hit the heights. While the slot is colorful, there are simply too many playing card symbols on the reels. At the same time, each of the bonus features could be better. Having a standard credit paying scatter could be considered dull by some, while how the free spins feature works is a little unclear. Nevertheless, the game is worth a go based on the original concept alone!
