As follow-up slots go this is a dramatic remake of the original Kat Lee Bounty Hunter slot. The theme stays the same. With a female ‘James Bond’ type character battling cyborgs. The graphics are excellent in this new game. You still see Kat Lee and a Cyborg each side of the reels, though both are very much updated. The Cyborg is female, wears a white dress and looks both glamorous and sinister! You’ll find new music too.
This game has 40 win-lines, up from 30 in the original. You can spin for 1c per line, or add a multiplier if you prefer. Auto play is offered in increments – you can choose to stop at feature too.
The line wins are smaller than with some slots, as you will see the biggest wins come in the free spins round – when special wilds come into play. The top prize comes your way if you hit 5 of the Kat Lee symbols which show here poised with a gun in hand. You’ll get 1000 coins for 5 of these on a win-line, 100 for 4 and 50 for 5. Next come 2 different versions of the glamourous / scary cyborg. These are worth 500 and 400 for 5 of a kind.
Instead of the lowest paying symbols, playing cards make up the middle rank this time. These are silver – with aces through 10’s in play. Another view of Kat, the Cyborg and a drone gunship make up the smaller wins.
Scatter symbols have a big top prize. If you get 5 of the special Kat Lee symbols anywhere in view, this triggers a 4000-coin prize. You’ll collect money all the way to 2 of a kind for scatters. If you get at least 3 in view, the free spins bonus game will begin.
The original Kat Lee slot had a game with the same name, though that was very static by comparison to the new version. You need to hit the lower paying Kat on reel 1, the drone on reel 3 and Cyborg on reel 5 to trigger this bonus. There is an intermediate screen, and then you enter what looks like a warehouse.
You will see 6 red gun sights dotted around. When you hover your mouse over these, a Cyborg appears. You click to shoot and get a multiplier of your total spin amount as the prize. You keep going until you miss. The biggest prize is a generous 34x your spin amount.
There is an attractive screen showing the 3 choices for free spins. This appears when you get 3+ of the scatter symbols. Here are the choices:
Expanding Wilds: You get 8 free spins with special expanding wilds. These cover between 1 and 3 of the middle reels – making them completely wild. They do not change between spins, instead you get up to 3 reels wild at the start, which then stays for the full 8 spins.
Sticky Wilds: Special wilds can appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 in this variation. You get 10 free spins to collect them, and any that hit will remain stuck to the reels for the remainder of the game. This means that wins will be loaded to the end of your bonus – when you have a lot of wilds in place.
Multiplier Spins: There are no special wilds for this bonus. You get 15 free spins, and a random multiplier of up to 6x on any wins.
The design of this game is spectacular. Kat and the Cyborg host the game, standing either side of the reels and reacting to your wins. You will see a short animated movie when you first play – which sets the scene nicely. The music is straight out of a bond film, uplifting and dark at the same time. There are some excellent detailed touches – for example the bullet holes which appear in the spin button each time you play.
Symbols have the same cartoon-like look to them, though are far more detailed than the original. The stand out is the Cyborg. There are animations for the major symbols, while the lower paying ones will pulse.
The animations are topped by the Cyborg Hunt game – though the different free spins variations (along with techno style music) are also nicely produced.
Some sequels fail to hit the mark, this one most certainly hits! The graphics, dramatic music and sinister animations come together brilliantly to create an entertaining slot game. Visually, the Hunt bonus is the best – though your biggest wins will come from the 3 different free spins games.
