Is there anything that feels better than taking somebody else’s old hunk of junk and turning it into an absolute treasure? In fact, people love fixing things up so much that there are multiple television shows about it. American Restoration features all sorts of early-20th century objects being restored to their former glory. Flip This House is all about buying homes, fixing them up,, and flipping them for a profit. No matter the project, we love when things go from drab to fab.
Drab to Fab by Arrow’s Edge celebrates making something out of nothing. This slot game is based on home remodeling and features a handyman and a couple. Can they come together to build their dream house?
This game has 5 reels, 3 rows, and 25 paylines, a classic modern slot game setup. Thankfully, you have the option of choosing how many paylines are active using the lines setting at the bottom of the game. The bet amount setting sets your bet per line which is then multiplied by the number of active paylines. Your bet per line can be as low as $0.01 ($2.50 total) and as high as $10.00 ($250.00 total). There is a progressive jackpot in this game but there isn’t any information on how to win it.
Payline wins are multiplied by your bet per line to determine your prize. The 9 and 10, J and Q, and K and A, and the handyman make up the lower tier of symbols; these only pay for matches of 3 or more of a kind. The wife and husband both pay for matches of 2 or more of a kind. The maximum reward from these symbols is 5,000x your bet per line for a total maximum prize of $50,000.
The wild symbol in this game is the house; it only appears on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels. It can substitute for all symbols except the toolbelt.
If you land 3 or more tool belt symbols anywhere on the board, you’ll trigger the free spins feature. You’ll be given 12 free spins which can be retriggered if you land 3 or more scatter symbols again. Each winning combination that involves the new house symbol will be multiplied by 5.
In some cases, the new house symbol will expand to cover the entire reel it’s on. This will only happen if the new house symbol expanding creates a winning combination, otherwise the symbol will act normally.
Arrow’s Edge makes most of their slot games easily available online, and Drab to Fab is no exception. You can try this game out for free by searching for it at an online casino—you won’t even have to register for an account. Playing for cash does require that you sign up for an account and deposit money, though.
Unfortunately, Drab to Fab doesn’t work on mobile devices. The plugin it uses isn’t compatible with smartphones and tablets and there is no app you can download to play the game. You’ll have to stick to playing this game on your laptop or desktop.
Now for the important question: Is this game more drab or fab? Unfortunately, we’re going to have to go with drab on this one. The design of this game isn’t great; it looks a bit rushed and the interface is even a tad difficult to navigate, especially compared to most slot games. Not only that, but the theme is hardly incorporated and uninteresting. One saving grace of this game is the ability to choose the number of active paylines.
The extra features in this game aren’t much, either. There is one wild feature which only occurs when it’s going to make you win. The free spins feature isn’t great but the 5x multiplier for new house wins helps some.
But at the end of the day, you probably don’t need to waste your time with Drab to Fab. If you really like the theme it’s definitely playable, but there are plenty of better options out there otherwise.
