When the Roman Empire was its peak, gladiators were born. These expert swordsman would step into the arena to battle foes ranging from other gladiators all the way up to dangerous animals. Thousands of Romans would gather ’round to watch as brave souls fought for their lives in the ultimate competition. In fact, the concept of gladiators is so interesting to us that we decided to make it into a movie starring Russell Crowe.
Betsoft is also a big fan of gladiators, which is why they made their Gladiator slot game. This 5×3 slot game gives you the feel of an authentic Roman gladiator battle. There are plenty of nice prizes and features to keep you busy—if you live, that is.
There are 5 reels, 3 rows and 30 non-fixed paylines in Gladiator. You can toggle the number of active paylines using the “Select Lines” setting at the bottom of the game. All of the settings are on the pillars at the bottom of the game except for the coin value feature. To change the value of each coin, you’ll have to click on the large number next to where it says “Choose Coin Bet.” The coin value can be 0.02, 0.05, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, or 1.00.
All of the symbols in Gladiator pay out when you match 3 or more. All payline wins are multiplied by your bet per line rather than your total bet. The worst symbol is the gold chalice, then the coins, the flag, the horse, the tiger, the sword and shield, the flail, the horned helmet man, and the regular helmet man, and the Colosseum. The biggest win from these symbols is 750x your bet per line for a max of 3,750 credits.
When the princess symbol lands on the top row of the middle three reels, rose petals will fall onto the symbols below and turn some into 2x wilds. Any winning combinations with these symbols will be multiplied by 2.
If the gladiator symbol is anywhere on reel 3, the Gladiator Smash Wild Reel feature is triggered. This feature turns all symbols on the 3rd reel into wilds.
Landing 3 or more door symbols on an active payline will trigger the Click Me feature. Choose one of the options to reveal an instant prize. Once you’ve revealed a prize, you’ll be given another selection. This continues until the prize you reveal says “Collect.”
When the hero, coliseum and villain symbols are consecutively on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd payline, the Gladiator Battle bonus will start. Choose one of two gladiators then sit back and watch them battle it out for a prize.
Betsoft makes demo versions of most of their games available, and Gladiator is no exception. If you can find a demo version of this game at an online casino, you can try it out instantly. You will have to create an account if you’re interested in playing for cash.
One downside to this game is that’s not available for mobile devices. You’ll have to stick to playing Gladiator on a laptop or desktop PC.
Betsoft generally does a good job with their slot games. Most Betsoft games are designed well and packed with all sorts of great features—but does Gladiator live up to those expectations? The answer is a resounding yes.
Like most Betsoft games, Gladiator has stunning visuals and nice sound effects and music. From the symbols all the way down to the font used, the theme definitely resonates throughout this game.
As for features, Gladiator gives you just about everything you could ask for. You can fight in an epic gladiator battle for big prizes and pick your way through the Click Me bonus feature, and there are even two separate wilds features. The only extra feature Gladiator is missing is a free spins feature, but it’s hard to complain when it’s already packed so full.
There are a lot of good slot games out there, but if you’re looking for something truly great, you have to give Gladiator a try.
