The very first thing you’ll see when you play this slot is an animation showing Jack. Jack is a strange dark green skinned creature, with red hair, horns, big teeth, while he is missing a nose. He works down the mines on the lookout for gems and all of the action takes place in underground caves.
This game has an interesting free spins bonus round and three different progressive jackpots to get your teeth into, which is exactly what Jack does to some of the gems during the game.
Jack’s Pot is a five-reel slot with 25 fixed win lines which pays from left to right. Players will simply set their coin size and this will be multiplied by 25 for the total stake for each spin. During play the symbols are a mixture of gems and rocks and these symbols spin in mid-air when the reels are in action. The five highest paying symbols are those which are gem related, these gems protruding from a craggy rock.
All of the game controls are housed in rocks at the bottom of the reels and here you’ll also find the handy auto-play feature where you can set the slot running for 10, 25, 50 or 75 spins.
The highest paying gems are the purple ones and you’ll be pocketing a very impressive 5,000 coins for hitting the maximum 5 in a row. The only other symbol with a four-figure payout is the orange gem, which pays exactly 1,000 coins as a top prize. The blue, green and red gems have maximum wins of 500, 300 and 200 coins respectively. The standard symbols in the game are completed by the playing cards 10, J, Q, K and A, each of these made out of the same craggy stone.
The wild symbol is the result of all of Jack’s hard work down the mines – a wooden trolley containing all of the gems that Jack has collected during the day (apart from the ones he has eaten of course). This wild will substitute for every other symbol in the game apart from the scatter.
The first of the features is a free spins bonus round which is activated when landing Jack’s drill three times or more across any of the five reels. Upon entering the feature, you’ll be presented by a green mound and you’ll be asked to choose one of six mining spots within the mound.
This will now reveal the number of free spins you’ll have and whether or not you have won any ‘amber wilds’ when starting the free spins. Amber Wilds are additional wilds that will remain on the reels throughout the free spins. At first, you might assume that these wild symbols remain in one place throughout the whole feature, but these ones move around every three or four spins. The only downside to this feature is the fact that there are no scatters in play at all, meaning the free spins cannot be retriggered.
The other bonus feature in the game is the jackpot award. There are three jackpot prizes in all, the amounts shown in the top right-hand corner of the slot within purple, green and brown gems. The highest Jackpot is usually a good four figure one, while the two smaller jackpots will usually be in the hundreds. The Jackpot award is a randomly triggered event, so you’ll never know when it is going to hit, although you can increase your chances by playing for higher stakes. If you are lucky enough to enter the jackpot screen, you’ll be presented with four different crystals. Three of the crystals will reveal one of the three Jackpots, while the other crystal will award you all three Jackpot prizes.
The visuals are impressive throughout this slot, none more so than the opening sequence, which sees Jack joyous after finding some gems. Jack stands to the left of the reels throughout this game, offering up some fun and amusing animations, while the gameplay is slick throughout.
For an enjoyable slot experience, you won’t go too far wrong when playing Jack’s Pot. The graphics are good throughout, while the design team at 888 Games clearly have a good sense of humor. The gameplay is fun throughout too, with both the free spins feature and the progressive jackpots enhancing the enjoyment levels even more.
